The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

I grew up in Johnstown, PA and attended Penn State from 1948-51, graduating with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering. Subsequent studies took him to Southern Methodist University for Oil and gas Law & Taxation, University of Tulsa, Oklahoma State University, Wayne State University, and American Institute of Banking for other business studies. Upon graduation from Penn State I joined Phillips Petroleum Co. for 10 years in the West Texas and Oklahoma areas, with a short interruption for Army Service during the Korean War. Importantly, I met and married my West Texas sweetheart, Carol Jean Boatright, who had just graduated from Oklahoma University. Subsequently, I joined a Midwest Bank in Petroleum Financing and Trust Investment activities, later becoming Vice President. In the 1970s to the present, I left banking to become an Independent Oil Producer in Michigan. My wife and I have three married children: Mindy Stewart, D.D.S.,; Jill McNichols; and Christian George, M.D. Mindy and Chris are University of Michigan graduates and Jill graduated from Miami University of Ohio. My important memberships included Society of Petroleum Engineers, Economic Club of Detroit, Professional Engineer, Mt. Nittany Society, President's Clubs at Penn State and University of Michigan. I am President of Crestlake Energy, Inc.
